NanoPro™ Assays

NanoPro assays enable detailed characterization of proteins in extremely small and precious samples. Unlike traditional protein analysis techniques which require thousands to millions of cells, NanoPro assays require as few as 25 cells per assay, enabling novel experiments in samples too small for other techniques. For the first time, key proteins involved in cellular regulatory pathways can be studied and quantified in limited cell populations, including:

  • Primary cells
  • Isolated stem cell populations
  • Fine needle tumor aspirates
  • Micro-biopsies

NanoPro assays employ capillary-based isoelectric focusing to separate and resolve various protein phosphorylation states. Even low abundance proteins can be characterized in limited cell populations.

NanoPro assays enable novel discoveries in many areas of research:

  • Drug development — Characterize the actions of kinase inhibitor drugs in primary cells and fine-needle aspirates
  • Biomarker discovery and validation — Probe the impact of diseases and treatments on proteins in tissue micro-biopsies
  • Oncoprotein activation — Study oncoprotein control mechanisms directly in primary tissues and cells
  • Post-translational modification research — Detect structural variants in proteins with extremely small isoelectric point differences

Each NanoPro platform features Compass™ software, an array of assay kits and an expanding library of assay protocols. All NanoPro platforms share the same assay and capillary chemistry, allowing assays to be easily transferred between systems.
